The United States Depart of Defense has found a nifty way of cutting costs in planning for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Rather than ship home millions of pieces of equipment from Americans bases abroad, the military is simply giving them away.Nearly two-and-a-half million pieces of equipment, estimated at a cost of $250 million, have so far been given to the Iraqi government by the US military in the last year alone, reports The Huffington Post. tablet pc . As the DoD looks to empty out the bases that cost Americans billions of dollars towards erecting during the last decade, everything from air conditioning units to army tanks are being handed over to the foreign government in order to avoid the costly bill of shipping those supplies back to the States.“It’s all sunk costs,”retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton tells HuffPo.“It’s money that we spent and we’re not going to recoup.”Meanwhile, as the US hands over millions, they are scraping their pockets in order to make ends meet domestically. Yet again, the government is being posed with a possible shutdown in the days ahead, lest lawmakers find a way to balance their ledgers.http://rt.com/usa/news/us-iraq-troops-bases-413/
Anonymous is on the hunt for the copfeatured in a video pepper-spraying Occupy Wall Street protesters for no apparent reason. They say they’ve found him, and are circulating a document with his and his family’s personal information. This could get ugly.
According to a document posted on Pastebin.com, the cop who blasted young women in the face with pepper spray in the now-iconic video above is NYPD Captain Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna. Bologna was identified as the pepper-sprayer by a photographer who witnessed the incident and posted a blown-up image of his badge to his blog.
The Pastebin document, which has about 7,000 views at this writing contains Bologna’s name and possible phone numbers and addresses, along with a list of potential family member names. It reads:
You know who the innocent women were, now they will have the chance to know who you are. Before you commit atrocities against innocent people, think twice. WE ARE WATCHING!!! Expect Us!
According to a 2005 article in the Villager, Anthony Bologna has been with the NYPD for nearly 30 years. He was in charge of Lower Manhattan’s police precinct for five years, before becomingthe “borough executive” of the Manhattan South Precinct in 2010.
Seattle Police Department Sued by KOMO News for Not Releasing Dash-Cam Videos
UPDATE: A rather significant update to this story involves the misplacement of several thousand dash-cam videos by SPD. No, really, they’re just gone.
More after the jump.
UPDATE: KOMO now reports that several thousand dash-cam records have simply disappeared from the Seattle Police Department’s possession.
In total, more than 45,000 videos vanished from the system over three years.”Yes, a lot of video has disappeared and there have been efforts to recover them,” [Sgt. Sean] Whitcomb said.
It’s unclear what kind of access the station had to the records in order to independently verify that the videos have disappeared. News Director Holly Gauntt wasn’t available at the ungodly hour I called.
The Seattle City Council is currently looking into a program that would make police officers wear lapel-mounted body cameras that would record all the interactions between police and residents. It’s an innovative idea that could help bridge the yawning chasm of trust between the public and the Seattle Police Department.
But the body-camera program will only work if the videos can be accessed by the press and public. And judging by the lawsuit levied against SPD over the video-camera footage it already collects, there’s no reason to think that body-camera footage will be seen by anybody but whom the SPD (and occasionally the courts) say can see it.
KOMO News announced today that it has sued the Seattle Police Department for refusing to grant access to numerous dash-cam videos collected during police/public interactions.
The New Jersey police officer responsible for capturing five Israelis who filmed and celebrated while the World Trade Center towers burned has broken his silence, agreeing to a Sept. 16 exclusive interview with AMERICAN FREE PRESS.
As AFP readers are no doubt aware, these are the same Israelis who were working under the direction of Urban Moving Systems, a Mossad front company at the center of Israeli involvement in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Sgt. Scott DeCarlo has never spoken to the media about the details of that day except for two 30-second cameo appearances in Internet videos from undetermined sources. In fact, DeCarlo confirmed that this is the first, and last, interview he will ever grant in regard to this subject.
DeCarlo revealed to AFP hidden details about the events of 9-11 that mainstream media venues should have uncovered 10 years ago, if not for their near-total blackout of meaningful coverage where Israel is concerned.
“The family is very upset and really shocked, to be honest,” attorney Philip Gold said Wednesday. “They can’t believe that this could have happened, let alone to their their son who is an innocent, sweet individual with Down syndrome.”
Gilberto Powell, 22, was stopped by officers in the area of Southwest 111th Place and Southwest 138th Street around 9:30 p.m. Wholesale Clothing . Saturday, according to a Miami-Dade Police report.
The report said officers spotted a bulge in Powell’s waist band and when they tried to pat him down, he tried to flee. Police say Powell broke free as officers tried to place him in handcuffs, hitting his forehead on the ground.

NEW YORK – At least 80 protesters and possibly as many as 100 or more have been arrested near Wall Street, the site of a week-long ‘occupation’ by protesters demanding real change.
Multiple videos of arrests today show officers using excessive force.
In one video, several women, who appear to be no threat whatsoever to the police, are peppered sprayed. In another, a man is violently thrown to the ground for what appears to be no reason at all.
While it is true that one cannot know all the details surrounding an event from one video, the following videos obviously speak for themselves.
Despite an attempt to buy the Florida Straw Poll, Mitt Romney lost by a landslide to Herman Cain.A clear attempt to manipulate the masses failed on Romney’s part. Protests promised around the Nation as citizens begin revolting against the Establishment
Wall Street America is ‘occupied’.
Occupied by a small band of grassroots-social-media-organized citizens – and it appears they may be achieving their goal.
Calls for and promises of protests around America are coming together as this article is written.
Twitter, one of the many social networking platforms utilized to coordinate the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests, is alive with calls for protests in Dallas, Cleveland, Phoenix, and Atlanta.
The internet is buzzing with calls for action, support, and promises of carpools loading up and making the drive, sometimes across the entire country, to join the protesters.
Some supporters of the movement have offered the Wall Street occupiers financial assistance, food, and clothing. The protesters say they are not leaving, rather camping out on the cement of the newly dubbed ‘Liberty Square’ until they “see movements toward real change in our country and the world.”
Whether or not these protests snowball into an ‘American Arab Spring’ is yet to be known, but all signs point to yes.
A petition to abolish the TSA has been posted on the White House’s website and has prominently received over 11,000 signatures as of the time of this posting. The portion of the White House’s website that contains the petition is that of ‘We the People’, a new section intended to give citizens an avenue to be heard.Petitions on the site must receive a minimum of 5,000 signatures in a given time period in order to receive a response. This petition was given until October 22, but has already doubled that requirement – an illustration of the American People’s desire to eliminate the often scandalous behemoth of a bureaucracy that is the TSA.The following in an excerpt from whitehouse.gov:
Abolish the TSA, and use its monstrous budget to fund more sophisticated, less intrusive counter-terrorism intelligence.
The Transportation Security Administration has been one of the largest, most expensive and most visible blunders of the post-9-11 homeland security reformation. It has violated countless constitutional rights of average Americans, caused miserable and expensive delays in an already-overburdened air travel system, and allowed multiple known instances of harassment, theft, extortion and sexual abuse by its employees. It has failed approximately 70% of undercover efficacy tests, and for all its excesses, has been unable to catch even a single terrorist since its creation. In our current economic situation, we can no longer afford to continue wasting taxpayer dollars on this kafkaesque embarrassment. Let us instead invest in saner, more effective solutions.https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions/!/petition/abolish-tsa-and-use-its-monstrous-budget-fund-more-sophisticated-less-intrusive-counter-terrorism/c7L94bFB
